Dr. Ferdinand Umelo
Over a 12-year career as a medical doctor, Dr. Umelo has remained committed to reducing maternal and perinatal mortality/morbidity. His work has seen him practicing both locally and outside the country with an excellent track record of positive treatment outcomes.
The doctor is also extremely interested in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, in his own words, “I aim to help reduce the burden of infertility and assist couples who are desirous of conception. ”He is also interested in the furtherance of research in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with emphasis on reproductive endocrinology and infertility and maternal-fetal medicine.
Voted the best resident in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the November 2011 Part 1 examination of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN), Dr. Umelo is a beneficiary of the Nigerian Federal Ministry of health overseas clinical attachment for outstanding residents.
Currently serving as the Director of Clinical Services, Cedarcrest Hospitals Abuja, Dr. Umelo had served as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Infertologist and ART Specialist with the Hospital between January 2015 and December 2018 before undertaking this new role.
He also had stints at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State and the Craft Hospital and Research Centre India.
